AI Detector — Free AI Writing Pattern Checker
Is this text AI-written? No tool on Earth can answer that with certainty — but patterns can be measured, and this free AI Detector measures six of them honestly: AI stock phrases, sentence rhythm (burstiness), vocabulary variety, contraction rate, sentence length and repetitive sentence starters. You get an AI-likelihood score plus the signal behind every point, so you can judge for yourself instead of trusting a black box.
How to check a text
- Paste at least 60 words — shorter texts cannot be judged fairly by anyone.
- Run the check — read the score and each of the six signals.
- Decide like a human — a high score is a prompt to look closer, never proof on its own.
The six signals, in plain English
- AI stock phrases — "furthermore", "delve", "plays a crucial role", "in today's world" and their relatives, counted per 100 words.
- Sentence rhythm — human sentence lengths vary a lot; AI lengths are suspiciously even. Low variation scores high.
- Vocabulary variety — the share of unique words. Flat, repetitive vocabulary leans AI.
- Contractions — people write "don't" and "it's" constantly. Almost none is a formal, machine-like tell.
- Sentence length — AI drafts cluster tightly in the 15–27 word band.
- Sentence starters — page after page of "The…", "It…", "This…" openers is a pattern humans rarely sustain.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is an AI detector?
Honestly: limited. Research keeps showing that detectors flag careful human writers (especially non-native English writers) and miss edited AI text. That is why this tool shows its workings and calls itself an estimate. Never accuse, grade or discipline anyone on a detector score alone.
Why did my own writing score high?
Formal writing shares habits with AI writing: few contractions, even sentences, stock transitions. Students writing carefully in a second language hit this often. The signal breakdown shows exactly which habits pushed your score up.
Can AI text score low?
Yes — a human who edits an AI draft properly (varied rhythm, own phrases, contractions) produces genuinely natural text. At that point the honest question is about the ideas, not the detector.
Is my text stored?
No. The analysis runs in your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
